Jayapura — Papuan religious leader, Rev. Dr. Yones Wenda, expressed his full support and appreciation for the efforts of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 in maintaining security and enforcing the law in Papua.
In his statement delivered in Jayapura on Monday (May 12), Rev. Wenda emphasized the crucial role of the Peace Cartenz Task Force in ensuring public safety amid ongoing violence perpetrated by armed criminal groups (KKB) and political criminal groups (KKP).
“I extend my appreciation to the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, who have been working with great dedication to safeguard security in Papua. Without the efforts of security forces, it would be difficult for our people to live peacefully and carry out their daily activities safely,” Rev. Wenda said.
He urged all elements of society to support law enforcement efforts, so that no more lives are lost to acts of violence. According to him, peace in Papua is not solely the responsibility of security forces, but a shared duty of all citizens.
“We must unite — religious leaders, traditional figures, youth, and churches — to preserve peace. Do not allow certain groups to destroy Papua’s future with criminal acts,” he stressed.
In his message, Rev. Wenda also reminded the public of moral values rooted in religious teachings. He quoted the Word of God from Exodus 20:13, “You shall not murder,” as a call for everyone to abandon violence.
“Killing is against the teachings of God. To my brothers who are still committing acts of violence, I urge you to stop. Let us work together to keep Papua peaceful and blessed by God,” he appealed.
Rev. Wenda hopes that synergy between the community and the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 will continue to grow in order to create a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua for all its people.
