Puncak Jaya – The Puncak Jaya Resort Police (Polres Puncak Jaya), in coordination with the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, responded swiftly to a fire incident involving two houses in Pruleme Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, on Friday (March 14) in the early hours.

The incident was first reported at approximately 12:30 AM WIT. The police immediately coordinated with the Puncak Jaya Police Rapid Response Unit and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Battalion C to reach the scene. Upon arrival at the crime scene, officers conducted a sweep but found no residents or eyewitnesses nearby.

“Personnel immediately secured the area and ensured there were no casualties. However, about 20 minutes after the initial fire, another house located 38 meters away from the first site also caught fire,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., Deputy Head of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025.

Chief Commissioner Adarma further stated that the identities of the homeowners remain under investigation. Initial findings suggest possible arson, as the houses were unoccupied and there was no electricity supply in the area.

“It is possible that this fire was deliberately set to disrupt public security and order (Kamtibmas) in Puncak Jaya, especially considering that the location is known as a base for certain groups,” he added.

The police are intensifying surveillance and urging the public to remain vigilant against potential security threats. “We remind all personnel on duty to stay alert, especially when responding to incidents at night, to anticipate any possible situations,” Chief Commissioner Adarma emphasized.

Currently, the joint security forces are continuing their investigation into the motives and individuals behind this fire incident. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and report to law enforcement to support efforts in maintaining security and upholding the law in the region.
