Papua- Jayawijaya Traditional Youth Chairman Nikson Hesegem asked the public to support the implementation of simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada) in 2024.
“The implementation of peaceful regional elections cannot be separated from the participation of the community, therefore let us join hands to make peaceful elections a success and make a promise,” he said.
According to Nikson, elections are a means for change in a region, especially in mountainous Papua.
“Let’s elect leaders who can bring change, don’t choose the wrong leaders because of money,” he said.
Nikson hopes that people in Papua’s mountains, especially in Wamena, will always be wise and careful in receiving information so that they are not provoked.
“The digital era has quite a big impact, especially related to security, therefore, let’s pay close attention to the information obtained, if necessary, confirm it with the authorities so as not to be provoked,” he explained.
He also emphasized that groups and individuals should no longer clash with society for any gain.
“Everyone wants change and this is the right election tool. “I ask law enforcement officials to take action against individuals who use the community as shields,” he stressed.
Nikson hopes that this regional election can bring a good image to the Land of Papua.
“Papua is the Land of Peace, let’s implement Papua the Land of Peace by creating a safe and comfortable regional election,” he asked.
