Jayapura- The leader of the Paniai Armed Criminal Group (KKB), Jemmy Magai Yogi, who also serves as the Chief of Staff of the West Papua Army (WPA) Division II Pemka IV Paniai, arrived at the Papua Police Headquarters, Jayapura, on Friday, October 18, 2024.
His arrival was tightly guarded by the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force after previously being flown from Timika.
The arrest of KKB Jemmy Magai Yogi was carried out on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at around 16:16 WIT in front of the Dogiyai Regency DPRD Office.
In the operation, the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force in collaboration with the Dogiyai Police managed to secure KKB Jemmy Magai Yogi along with evidence in the form of 104 rounds of ammunition. The confiscated ammunition consisted of 56 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber and 48 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber.
According to Brigadier General Pol Faizal Ramadhani, Head of Operations for the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force, KKB Jemmy Magai Yogi arrived at the Papua Regional Police at 14.30 WIT and will undergo intensive examination by investigators from the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force and the Papua Regional Police.
“We emphasize that the legal process against the leader of the Paniai KKB will be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.
Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Pol Dr. Bayu Suseno, also confirmed the arrival of KKB Jemmy Magai Yogi at the Papua Police and emphasized that legal proceedings will be carried out regarding various criminal acts committed by the suspect before his arrest.
“The person concerned will be held accountable for his actions before the law,” concluded Kombes Pol Bayu Suseno.
