Jayapura – The claim that July 1 is the birthday of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), is strongly opposed by Papuan youth, Paul Ohee.
According to him, the July 1 commemoration is baseless propaganda launched by the KKB to threaten national unity and unity.
“Propaganda for Papuan independence promoted by separatist groups is a threat to the unity and integrity of Indonesia. As a Papuan youth figure, of course this kind of thing is very regrettable,” said Paul in a written statement, Monday (1/7/2024).
Apart from intending to divide unity, Paul continued, this propaganda also ignores the welfare and peace of Papua which we have been fighting for together.
Paul emphasized that armed resistance by the KKB would not have a better impact in resolving various problems in Papua.
He said that the claim for Papuan independence desired by the KKB was not a solution to existing problems.
On the other hand, efforts such as constructive dialogue and sustainable development are more effective ways to overcome problems in Papua, of course by respecting Indonesia’s sovereignty.
According to Paul, Indonesia is a country that is rich in cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity.
He described the value of diversity from Sabang to Merauke as having its own uniqueness that enriches national identity.
“Papua, with its enchanting natural beauty and unique culture, is an integral part of Indonesia. “Papua cannot be separated from Indonesia, the two should be able to strengthen each other,” he explained.
