Jayapura, Papua– The Jayapura City Government (Pemkot) calls on the local young generation to play an active role in creating security and comfort in the area.
Jayapura City Regional Secretary, Frans Pekey, emphasized the importance of the young generation’s contribution in building a good and clean life, not only from the health aspect but also in becoming individuals who are beneficial to their community.
In his statement on Tuesday, Pekey emphasized that a good life is not only related to physical health but also includes positive social behavior. He added that this good behavior must start from the family, environment and community. The younger generation, especially students, are encouraged to prepare themselves for a better future.
“Everything depends on behavior carried over from within the family, environment and community,” he said.
Frans Pekey also reminded that the special autonomy policy that has been helping Papua will end someday, so the younger generation must be ready to compete in a more competitive era.
“Therefore, it is hoped that Papuan children from now on will have to prepare themselves to compete,” he said.
“Apart from that, it is also to maintain unity and prevent conflicts between religious communities,” said Pekey.
Chairman of the Jayapura City FKUB, Hein Mano, emphasized that harmony and health are important aspects that must be maintained by the younger generation. According to him, the younger generation is very vulnerable to negative influences, so they must be able to protect themselves from things that could be detrimental.
“This is important because the younger generation is vulnerable to various negative influences, so they must be required to be able to protect against things that could harm themselves,” he said.
By inviting the younger generation to be active in maintaining security and comfort, the Jayapura City Government hopes to create a better and more competitive environment. Collaboration with FKUB and education about health are strategic steps to achieve this goal. The younger generation is expected to be able to internalize the positive values of family and community and prepare themselves for a brighter future.
