Jayapura – National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto emphasized their joint commitment to realizing the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) which is peaceful, safe and smooth.
The call for synergy between the leadership of the TNI and Polri institutions was conveyed during a working visit (kunker) to Papua on Friday (8/12/2023). One of the agendas is to review the Peaceful Election declaration together with all elements of society in Papua.
On that occasion, Sigit emphasized that the TNI-Polri together with all relevant stakeholders have the task of guarding and securing all stages of the 2024 Election so that it runs peacefully, safely and smoothly.
“Related to the activities we have carried out so far, everywhere we have always monitored, called for and witnessed with the community and KPUD, Bawaslu holding a commitment to peaceful elections,” said Sigit.
The former National Police Criminal Investigation Officer also emphasized that the Peaceful Election declaration activity was very important and must continue to be encouraged. According to Sigit, differences in democratic parties are normal, all people are free to make their choices. However, Sigit emphasized, in the 2024 elections all parties must prioritize, guard and maintain national unity and integrity.
“So that in the future everything that is the national goal and the nation’s ideals can run safely, smoothly and according to the people’s expectations,” said Sigit.
Meanwhile, the TNI Commander has the same hope. He wants the 2024 elections to run smoothly, safely and peacefully. For this reason, he emphasized that he would collaborate with the National Police and related stakeholders to make this happen.
