The Latest News from the Papua Police Chief about Pilot Susi Air being held hostage by the KKB

Jayapura – Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri claims efforts to free the New Zealand pilot are still being carried out.

He said the release of the hostages held by the KKB was being carried out with the utmost care and scrutiny and without haste.

Fakhiri said negotiations were still being carried out involving various parties including the family.

According to him, the steps taken were to minimize casualties, both civilians and security forces.

“We are trying to suppress the occurrence of violence, especially now that it is heading towards a national agenda,” said Inspector General Faakhiri, Friday (8/9).

The Papuan police chief acknowledged that the security forces had not taken any pursuit.

Security forces prioritize guarding residential areas in order to provide a sense of security.

“We will continue to try to free the New Zealand pilot who has been held captive since February 7,” said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Fakhiri.
