Nabire, Central Papua —The arrest of Siprianus Weya, a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya alias Daniel Kogoya, is a real proof of the seriousness of the authorities in maintaining security in Papua. The joint operation of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz and the Nabire Police took place on Wednesday (8/20/2025) around 17.55 WIT at the Topo Police Station, Nabire Regency.
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General Police Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., explained that this success is directly related to the shooting case that killed two Brigade Mobile members, Brigpol Arif Maulana and Bripda Nelson Runaki, in Siriwo District, Nabire, on last August 13. According to him, the role of Siprianus cannot be considered small because he is an important part of the propaganda of the armed group.
“Siprianus Weya is a member of the media section of KKB Kodap III D Dulla. He recorded the statement of the group’s post-shooting and spread it to build psychological terror in the community. The equipment used has now been secured as evidence,” said Brigadier General Police Faizal, accompanied by Deputy Head, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga.
Besides Siprianus, five other people were also secured in this operation, namely Jemi Mirip, Botanus Agimbau, Meinus Mirip, Yupinus Weya, and Melianus Mirip. From their hands, the officers confiscated a number of evidence in the form of mobile phones, noken, jackets, to other personal equipment suspected of being related to group activities.
Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that this operation is a strategic step to reduce the movement space of Armed Criminal Group in Central Papua. He also reminded that the success of the apparatus cannot be separated from the support of the community that maintains order and is not provoked.
“We invite all people of Nabire and Central Papua not to be easily influenced by misleading issues spread by Armed Criminal Group. Let’s together maintain security and fully entrust the law enforcement process to the authorities,” he said.
The arrest of Siprianus Weya also shows that the apparatus is not only focused on the perpetrators in the field, but also on those who play a role in spreading information terror. Thus, the propaganda space of armed groups is increasingly narrowed.
For the people of Papua, this success is a positive signal that the state is present to ensure security. The apparatus emphasized that law enforcement will continue to be carried out firmly, measuredly, and in accordance with the rules in order to create a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua.
