Jakarta – Indonesian polling agency Indikator Politik Indonesia has released the quick count results of the Papua Gubernatorial Election re-vote (Pemungutan Suara Ulang / PSU) on Thursday (August 7, 2025). With 100 percent of the sample data counted, gubernatorial candidate pair number 2, Matius Fakhiri–Aryoko Rumaropen, holds a narrow lead with 50.71 percent of the votes.
Meanwhile, candidate pair number 1, Benhur Tomi Mano–Constant Karma, secured 49.29 percent. The margin between the two is only around 1.42 percent, which Indikator described as an extremely tight race.
The quick count was based on samples from 250 polling stations (TPS) across Papua, selected using a stratified-cluster random sampling method. The margin of error is estimated at ±2.19 percent with a 95 percent confidence level. Data processing was conducted using the R software (survey package).
Indikator emphasized that the quick count is not the official election result. The winner will be determined by the General Elections Commission (KPU) through a manual, tiered vote tabulation. The Papua election re-vote was held under orders from the Constitutional Court (MK), which had previously annulled the results of the 2024 gubernatorial election.
