Apparatus Dismantles KKB Narcotics Network in Papua: Marijuana Farm Owned by Egianus Kogoya Revealed

Jayawijaya Task Force Law enforcement Operation Peace Cartenz-2025 again reveals shocking facts in the crackdown operation against armed criminal groups (KKB) in Papua. In addition to being involved in violence and terror, this group is also known to run an illegal business in the form of planting and circulating marijuana as a source of funding for their armed activities.

This was revealed in a shooting contact that occurred between the officers and the KKB group led by Egianus Kogoya in Pugima Village, Welalegama District, Jayawijaya Regency, which caused the death of one of the KKB members, Pionus Gwijangge alias Gwijangge Robber, who is also known as Egianus Kogoya’s nephew.

According to Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General Police Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., from the scene of the incident, the officers secured a number of evidence of marijuana-type narcotics weighing 216,59 grams that had been packaged and ready for circulation. The item was obtained from the suspect Pionus Gwijangge, who is strongly suspected of being directly involved in the marijuana distribution network owned by KKB.

“In addition to weapons, we found two ounces of dried marijuana packed in plastic ready for circulation. From forensic data and the results of Egianus Kogoya’s cellphone inspection, documentation was found that he was in a marijuana plantation managed by his group in Kurima District, Yahukimo Regency,” explained Brigadier General Faizal.

Furthermore, Head of Operation Peace Cartenz emphasized that this marijuana field is one of the main sources of funding for armed groups, including for the purchase of ammunition and combat equipment. This fact strengthens the suspicion that the KKB group not only relies on violent actions, but also is involved in cross-sector organized crime, including narcotics.

Not only that, the officers also managed to find 25 rounds of 9 mm caliber ammunition in different locations, precisely in Maima Village, Asotipo District, Jayawijaya, which is suspected to be part of the group’s weaponry.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., said that the authorities not only focus on the armed security aspect, but also committed to cracking down all illegal networks that are the source of KKB’s strength, including narcotics.

“We urge the public not to be affected and stay calm. The Cartenz Peace Task Force together with the TNI-Polri continues to strengthen patrols and crack down on all forms of crime, including the circulation of narcotics which is a serious threat in Papua,” he said.

With the revelation of marijuana fields and the role of KKB in the narcotics network, the authorities are increasingly closing the space of this group. Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 is not only a resistance to armed action, but also against illegal businesses that damage the future of Papua’s young generation.
