Papua Provincial Government Seeks to Accelerate Digitalization

Jayapura – The Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov Papua) is striving to accelerate the development of digital infrastructure to enhance public services across the region. To achieve this, Pemprov Papua has requested increased financial and technological support from the central government.

This initiative arises from the persistent lack of internet access in Papua, particularly in remote areas. “We hope the central government can provide special attention to the development of digital infrastructure in Papua, as it is the key to driving growth across various sectors,” stated a representative of Pemprov Papua on Thursday (May 22, 2025).

The effort aims to expand connectivity and accelerate digital transformation in education, healthcare, and economic sectors. Adequate digital infrastructure is also deemed crucial for supporting Papua’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in leveraging online platforms to market their products.

Additionally, digital infrastructure will serve as the foundation for implementing a more effective and efficient Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE). Through digitalization, local governments can deliver more transparent and responsive services to meet the needs of the people.

Pemprov Papua remains optimistic that successful digitalization will directly improve the quality of life for Papuans by providing better access to economic opportunities and essential services.

This support is urgently needed, as digital infrastructure plays a pivotal role in realizing the vision of developing Papua as a region on par with other parts of Indonesia.
