Yahukimo Regent Commends Evacuation of KKB Victims, Calls for Prayer and Peace in Papua

YAHUKIMO – The successful evacuation of victims from the recent attack by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Highlands, has received high praise from local community leaders and the regional government.
Yahukimo Regent Didimus Yahuli, S.H., M.H., expressed his deep gratitude to all parties involved. In his statement, he emphasized that the success of the operation was not only due to human efforts but also divine intervention.
“Without God’s help, we would have faced many obstacles. But everything went smoothly because of His goodness and grace to us all,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 17).
As the regional leader, Yahuli extended his respect and appreciation to all security personnel, including the Cartenz Peace Operation and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), for their swift and effective response in evacuating 25 victims — 16 of whom were found deceased, while 9 survived.
“I sincerely thank the Cartenz Peace Operation and the TNI for their preparedness, responsiveness, and success in evacuating both the deceased and the survivors,” he said.
The regent also extended his condolences to the victims’ families and urged that such acts of violence never happen again. “The blood of Jesus Christ on the cross has already redeemed and forgiven all our sins and wrongdoings. Let there be no more victims,” he firmly stated.
