TIMIKA – Thousands of Muslims in Mimika, Central Papua, celebrated Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri by performing congregational prayers at various locations, including the courtyard of Eme Neme Yauware Building, on Monday (March 31, 2025). The Eid prayer was led by Ustaz Mahardika Haris as the imam, with Habib Helmi Bin Khalid Al-Kaff delivering the sermon.

Mimika Regent Johannes Rettob and Deputy Regent Emanuel Kemong were also present at the Eid prayer. In his speech, the regent encouraged the community to use this occasion as a moment to strengthen unity and togetherness in developing Mimika.

“Today is a day of victory for Muslims after a full month of fasting. Let us take this opportunity to forgive one another and continue to do good in our daily lives,” said Johannes Rettob.

Chairman of the Islamic Holiday Committee (PHBI) Mimika, Laitam Gredenggo, stated that this year’s Eid prayer was held in 89 locations, including all mosques and four open fields. He also expressed appreciation for the role of the military (TNI), police (Polri), and various stakeholders in ensuring the security of the Eid celebrations, including the smooth running of the takbiran parade the night before.

“We are grateful that the entire series of Eid celebrations went smoothly without any issues. Thank you to all parties who contributed,” said Laitam Gredenggo.

In addition to urging people to maintain harmony, the Mimika Regent also emphasized the importance of solidarity and religious tolerance.

“Let us work together to build Mimika with a spirit of unity and strengthen religious values in our community,” he concluded.
