The Papua Regional Police Papua Hands Over KKB Suspect Kamenak Gire to Nabire District Attorney’s Office

Nabire – As part of the commitment to uphold the law and maintain the stability of security in Papua, the Papua Regional Police (Polda) through the Cartenz-2025 Peace Ops Task Force officially handed over the suspect Kamenak Gire alias Tandangan Kogoya alias Kamenak Kogoya to the Nabire District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday (19/3).

Suspect Kamenak Gire is strongly suspected of being involved in the attack that caused the death of a member of the Mandala IV Task Force in Kali Mawar, Ilu District, Puncak Jaya Regency. He was arrested on December 17, 2024 in Puncak Jaya without a fight. After going through a series of investigation and investigation processes, investigators from the Papua Regional Police and the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz-2025 finally submitted the case files, suspects, and evidence to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of Kejari Nabire as part of stage II in the legal process.

Head of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that the suspect was charged with serious articles considering his actions that led to the loss of life of state officials.

“The suspect is charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code about premeditated murder, subsidiary of Article 338 of the Criminal Code about murder, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the 1st Criminal Code. We ensure that the legal process runs according to the applicable rules so that justice can be properly enforced,” said Brigadier General Police Faizal Ramadhani

Furthermore, the Head of Public Relations for Operations Peace Cartenz-2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., added that the success of the arrest and handover of this suspect is proof of the seriousness of the authorities in cracking down on criminal offenders who threaten security and peace in Papua.

“We want to emphasize that anyone involved in criminal acts that harm the community or security forces will be dealt with strictly according to the applicable law. This is a form of our responsibility in maintaining order and providing a sense of security for the Papuan people,” he said.

With the submission of Kamenak Gire to the Nabire District Attorney’s Office, he will then undergo the detention process as a JPU prisoner until the trial is held. The security apparatus ensures that they will continue to supervise the course of this case so that it can run smoothly and transparently.
