Firm Law Enforcement: The State Ensures Security in Papua

Nabire — The legal process against Kamenak Gire, the suspect in the murder of a Mandala IV Task Force member in Ilu District, Puncak Jaya Regency, has reached a new stage with his handover to the Nabire District Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (March 19, 2025). This serves as concrete proof that the state is taking firm action against criminal groups threatening public security.

During the handover process at the Nabire District Prosecutor’s Office, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, stated that Kamenak Gire would be charged under Article 340 of the Criminal Code (premeditated murder), Article 338 (murder), and Article 55(1)-1 of the Criminal Code.

The successful arrest of Kamenak Gire on December 17, 2025, in Puncak Jaya without resistance demonstrates the effectiveness of Task Force Operation Cartenz 2025 in enforcing the law in Papua. With this handover, it is expected that the judicial process will proceed smoothly, ensuring justice for the victims and serving as a deterrent for future crimes.

Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, Head of Public Relations, emphasized that this step reflects the authorities’ commitment to upholding security and ensuring that perpetrators of crimes are held accountable before the law. He also added that Task Force Operation Cartenz 2025 will continue to work tirelessly to maintain stability in Papua.
