Intan Jaya, March 21, 2025– The atmosphere in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, suddenly gripped after hearing gunshots on Friday (21/3) morning. The incident occurred on Mamba Street, Bazemba Village, around 09.45 WIT.
Head of Peace Operation Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., explained that the incident began with two gunshots that were heard from the direction of Bazemba Village. The security forces then returned with two shots as an initial response.
“Our first response is to chase and check the crime scene. Arriving at the location, the team immediately carried out a sweep to ensure a safe situation,” said Brigadier General Faizal.
The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz Team led by AKP Ojan Prabowo, S.Tr.K., S.I.K., immediately moved to the scene. Based on information from the Intan Jaya Police, two unknown people (OTK) who are suspected to be from the KKB group were involved in the shooting. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident.
To anticipate follow-up disruptions, the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 tightened security around the scene.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., appealed to the public to remain calm and immediately report to the security forces if they see or experience a suspicious incident.
“We ask residents to remain vigilant and not be provoked by information whose truth is not clear. The safety and comfort of the community is our priority,” said Kombes Yusuf.
Until now, security forces continue to conduct patrols and further investigations to ensure that the situation remains conducive in Intan Jaya Regency.
