100 Health Workers Contracted for Health Centers Across Four Districts in South Papua

South Papua, March 15, 2025 — The South Papua Health Office has contracted 100 healthcare workers to be stationed at health centers across four districts: Merauke, Mappi, Boven Digoel, and Asmat. These healthcare professionals, including doctors from various medical fields, will serve for one year to improve the quality of healthcare services in remote areas.
Dr. Benedicta Rahanggiar, Head of the South Papua Health Office, revealed that most of the contracted workers will be assigned to health centers in remote areas, such as Mumugu and Kolf Braza in Asmat District. This deployment is part of the effort to meet the nine essential healthcare service standards that the local government prioritizes.
This initiative, known as the Aanim Sehat program, aims to bring healthcare services closer to the people. With healthcare workers stationed in remote regions, it is hoped that individuals in need of medical attention can receive treatment without delay.
Additionally, the South Papua Health Office plans to equip the health centers with necessary medical equipment, including dental examination tools, as many centers currently lack these essential resources.
Currently, South Papua Province has 85 health centers spread across the four districts. This effort marks an important step in ensuring more equitable healthcare services for the communities in the region.
