Thousands of Weapons Seized by Joint Personnel of the Indonesian National Army and the Indonesian National Police (TNI-Polri) in Puncak Jaya During Patrol and Raid Operations

Jayapura – Hundreds of personnel from the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), led directly by the Head of Puncak Jaya Police Resort, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Kuswara, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., and the Commander of the 1714/PJ Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Irawan Setya Kusuma, S.Hub.Int, successfully secured thousands of weapons during a patrol and raid operation on Friday, March 7, 2025.
During the morning patrol and raid operation, the joint personnel, which included the Puncak Jaya Police Resort, the 1714/PJ Military District, the Mobile Brigade of the Papua Police Task Force (BKO Puncak Jaya), the Yonif Raider 715/MTL Task Force, and the Yonif Raider 112/DJ Task Force, were divided into two groups to conduct the patrol and raid of weapons.
The Head of the Puncak Jaya Police Resort, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Kuswara, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., when contacted, confirmed that the joint TNI-Polri team had once again conducted patrols and raids to confiscate weapons and sharp objects.
“Today, we have directly seized weapons, particularly arrows, that we found in possession of the public. We will continue to take action to ensure that no supporters of the community bring such weapons in the future,” he said.
“From the results of the patrol and raid operation this afternoon, we successfully secured thousands of weapons, including 3,700 arrows, 250 bowstrings, 275 bow cords, 8 slingshots, 6 machetes, 2 axes, 2 air rifles, and 8 items of combat clothing,” he added.
He explained that these items would be collected, cataloged alongside previous evidence, and then destroyed.
“We also continue to urge the public not to carry weapons or sharp objects, as they may trigger conflicts or even further violence. We hope that everyone will help us maintain the security and stability in Puncak Jaya Regency,” he emphasized.
He also urged the public to continue with their daily activities as usual, reassuring that TNI-Polri will always be present within the community to create a peaceful and conducive Security and Public Order Situation (Sitkamtibmas).
