Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force Hunts Down Armed Criminal Group After Burning Down Junior High School Building in Puncak

Jayapura – An Armed Criminal Group has again acted up in Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province, by burning down the Agandugume Junior High School building on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Head of Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Senior Commissioner Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., revealed that the burning was allegedly carried out by the Puncak KKB group, namely the Tenius Kulua Armed Criminal Group, the Kalenak Murib Armed Criminal Group, and the Lekagak Telenggen Armed Criminal Group.

“We can convey that in this incident there were no fatalities. However, the Agandugume Junior High School building was burned down. The status of the building is indeed abandoned and there are no teaching and learning activities there,” said Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani.

Furthermore, he emphasized that currently the Cartenz 2025 Peaceful Operation Task Force is pursuing armed criminal groups and increasing security to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cartenz 2025 Peaceful Operation Public Relations Unit, Senior Commissioner Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., appealed to the public in Puncak Regency to remain calm and not be easily provoked by incorrect information. He also asked residents to fully trust the security forces in maintaining a conducive situation and immediately report to the authorities if they find suspicious activities that could disrupt security and order.

On the other hand, the security forces continue to strengthen patrols and tighten surveillance at a number of vulnerable points to prevent potential threats from armed criminal groups. Coordination with local governments and community leaders is also ongoing to ensure the stability of security and the comfort of residents are maintained.

The police are committed to continuing to maintain security stability in the Central Papua region and to take firm action against groups that attempt to disrupt order and threaten public safety.
