KKB Action in Puncak: Infidelity Triggers the Burning of Government Facilities

Ilaga-Puncak, February 3, 2025 – The residents of Sinak District, Puncak Regency, were shocked by an attack carried out by a criminal armed group (KKB) led by Kalenak Murib and Tenius Kulua. On Monday, February 3, around 16:29 WIT, the KKB group set fire to four buildings in Kampung Kelemame and Kampung Pasir Putih.

The Head of Operation Damai Cartenz Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., along with the Deputy Head of Operation Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., provided an explanation about the incident. They mentioned that the police, along with the Damai Cartenz 2025 Task Force, received a report regarding the burning incident, which led to further investigation.

It was later discovered that the violent actions were suspected to have stemmed from an internal dispute within the KKB group regarding an affair. The infidelity involving the wife of one of the KKB members, Tenius Kulua, became the main trigger for the conflict, which eventually involved the KKB group led by Kalenak Murib.

As a result of the attack, several government buildings were targeted and set on fire, including:

1. The Pasir Putih Village Office

2. The Kelemame Village Office

3. Two Kelemame Elementary School buildings

In response to this situation, Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., the Head of Public Relations of Operation Damai Cartenz 2025, urged the public to remain calm and not be easily provoked. He also asked anyone with information about the KKB’s whereabouts to report it to the authorities to ensure security.

“We hope the public stays alert and reports any suspicious activity. Cooperation between the community and security forces is crucial to maintaining order,” he said.

This incident once again reveals the brutality of actions carried out by the KKB in Papua.
