Deep Sorrow: Yahukimo Police Visit Mourning Home of Assault Victim

DEKAI- The Yahukimo Police Department (Polres Yahukimo) demonstrated their compassion by conducting a humanitarian visit to the family of the late La Jahari, a victim of assault allegedly carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB). 

The visit took place on Friday (31/1) at 4:30 PM WIT and was led by the Deputy Chief of Yahukimo Police, AKBP Abd. Kadir, accompanied by Unit 1 SPKT Head, Ipda Hariyadi, along with several other police officers. The delegation visited the mourning home located in the Social Street complex, Dekai, to personally extend their condolences. 

As a gesture of care and support, the police provided assistance to the grieving family. The late victim’s wife, Mrs. Ratna, received the aid with deep emotion. During the visit, the police also shared updates on the ongoing investigation into La Jahari’s case. 

*”We deeply mourn the loss of the deceased. We are committed to thoroughly investigating this case and ensuring that the perpetrators face appropriate legal action,”* said AKBP Abd. Kadir. 

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that law enforcement efforts would continue to ensure the safety of the Yahukimo community. 

*”We will not allow violent acts to persist. The police will enhance security measures and continue working to create a safe and conducive environment for the people of Yahukimo,”* he stated. 

The humanitarian visit lasted approximately 40 minutes and concluded in a calm and orderly manner. Following the visit, the police delegation returned to the Yahukimo Police Headquarters. 

Through this initiative, the police hope to strengthen their relationship with the community while encouraging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to foster a safer environment.
