Jayapura, Papua – The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025 successfully arrested a fugitive from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Sentani, Jayapura, on Friday, January 31, 2025.
The fugitive apprehended was Yantis Murib, also known as Nosin Murib, who is known to be part of a group led by Jeki Murib, also known as Papuanus or Kasuari.
The Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that Yantis Murib had long been on the wanted list due to his involvement in various acts of violence in Papua.
“The KKB fugitive, Yantis Murib, is known to reside in Pinggil/Eronggobak Village, Puncak Regency,” said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.
During the arrest, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025 also secured several pieces of evidence, including an ID card, wallet, plane ticket, beaded necklace, noken (traditional Papuan woven bag), and a sum of cash.
Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani added that, based on investigations, Yantis Murib was involved in a shooting attack on a civilian in Ilaga in 2024, which resulted in a victim named Suherman sustaining a leg injury.
“Yantis Murib played the role of a motorcycle rider and carried a revolver during the shooting in Ilaga,” he revealed.
The Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Senior Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the people of Papua to maintain security and order and to immediately report any potential security threats to the authorities.
“Let us keep Papua peaceful and ensure that the perpetrators brought to justice are held accountable for their actions,” said Senior Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo.
