Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force Affirms Oksop Situation is Safe, Community Asked Not to be Provoked by Hoax Issues

Papua – The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force firmly denies the accusations stating that the TNI-Polri security forces have used the Ephesus GIDI Church in the Oksop District as a military post and war logistics warehouse. The accusations are said to be not based on facts and are only an attempt to provoke the situation in Papua.

Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, explained that the situation in the Oksop District is currently conducive and the local community is carrying out their daily activities safely. He emphasized that the TNI-Polri are tasked with protecting the community and maintaining peace in the area.

“The issue that the Ephesus GIDI Church in Oksop is being used as a military headquarters is incorrect information, aka a hoax. We urge the Papuan people not to easily believe negative issues that are deliberately spread by certain groups to create chaos,” said Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, Monday (20/1).

He added that the security forces always uphold human rights (HAM) and work in accordance with applicable legal regulations. The operation carried out in the Papua region aims to maintain security stability and protect the community from threats from armed groups.

In his statement, Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo also asked the public to remain calm and not be influenced by narratives that cannot be accounted for. He emphasized the importance of filtering information before believing and spreading it further.

“We ask the Papuan people to remain vigilant against fake news circulating. If there is information whose truth is in doubt, please confirm it directly with the authorities or through the official channels of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force,” said Senior Commissioner Yusuf.

The Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force continues to be committed to creating safe and peaceful conditions in Papua. The operation aims to restore security stability and ensure that people can live their lives peacefully.

The government also invites all parties, including the international community, to support law enforcement and peace efforts in Papua, and to reject any form of violence that could harm civilians.

“Oksop District is safe, let’s work together to keep Papua peaceful and not be influenced by irresponsible issues,” concluded Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo.
