Papuan Traditional Leaders Urge Community to Reject Terrorist Acts by KKB

Hengky Heselo, a traditional leader from Jayawijaya, Papua Highlands, has called on the people of Papua to avoid responding to provocative messages or statements from separatist groups that could disrupt public order and safety. According to Hengky, these calls from separatist groups are not only unconstructive but also have the potential to divide and bring suffering. “We urge the people of Papua to stay focused on peace and prosperity, and not be swayed by these disturbing calls,” Hengky said in his statement.
The terrorist actions carried out by KKB Papua have long been a source of concern in several areas of Papua. These acts not only instill fear among the people but also hinder the development efforts undertaken by the government. Hengky Heselo stressed that the people of Papua categorically reject all forms of violence. “These acts of terror harm not only individuals but also impede our efforts to build this region,” he said.
The people of Papua fully support the government’s efforts to eliminate KKB and continue to back various development programs aimed at improving the region’s welfare. Programs such as infrastructure development, education, health, and economic initiatives have been launched to enhance the quality of life in Papua. However, these efforts are often disrupted by the actions of KKB.
With a collective commitment from all sectors of society, including traditional leaders, religious figures, and the government, Papua can continue moving toward a brighter future. “Only through cooperation and mutual support can we create an environment that is safe, peaceful, and prosperous for all the people of Papua,” concluded Hengky Heselo.
