Papuan Leader Calls for Peace in Papua as December’s Month of Love Approaches

NABIRE – As December 1st approaches, Ali Kabiay, Chairman of the DPD Pemuda Mandala Trikora of Papua Province, has called on all citizens of Papua to uphold peace and strengthen unity. Ali emphasized that this date should be filled with the spirit of peace and togetherness, rather than provocation or the commemoration of separatist groups.

“Let us not allow baseless issues to disturb our tranquility. We must remain clear-headed and focus on actions that strengthen unity, not divide us,” Ali said during an interview with Tribun-Papua.com on Saturday (November 30, 2024).

Ali reminded the people that December 1st, 2024, falls on a Sunday, marking the beginning of the Christmas celebrations. “Let us welcome Christmas with peaceful hearts, focusing on love, and keeping our surroundings safe. We should also remember that December 1st is World AIDS Day, a global reminder to promote health and awareness,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Ali urged the people of Papua to continue maintaining security and order, especially in light of the upcoming festive season. “We all share the responsibility of creating a safe and peaceful environment, not just for ourselves, but for future generations as well,” he added.
