Jayapura, December 2, 2024 – Joint TNI-Polri forces successfully shot dead a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) named Jelek Waker in a gunfight in Gome District, Puncak Regency, on Monday, at 09.50 WIT.
Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, when confirmed said that the gunfight began when the KKB caused a disturbance in the fire of the joint TNI-Polri forces.
“Our troops responded to the disturbance with firm action. As a result, one KKB member named Jelek Waker was successfully paralyzed on the spot,” said Brigadier General Pol. Faizal.
In his statement, Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Pol. Dr. Bayu Suseno, also confirmed this incident.
“Jelek Waker’s body has been evacuated by the joint TNI-Polri and Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force to the Puncak Regional Hospital for further treatment. After that, the body was handed over to the family through the Acting Regent of Puncak,” explained Senior Commissioner Bayu.
Senior Commissioner Bayu Suseno added that currently the joint TNI-Polri and Cartenz-2-24 Peace Ops Task Force troops are on alert status one to anticipate potential retaliatory action from the KKB.
“We appeal to the people of Puncak Regency to remain calm and hand over control of security to the officers on duty,” he concluded.
