Jayapura – Rev. Yones Wenda, General Secretary of the Indonesian Christian Tent Church Synod, appealed to the Papuan people to work together to maintain security and public order (Kamtibmas) ahead of the regional head elections (Pilkada) in Papua.
In his statement when met in Jayapura, Rev. Yones Wenda emphasized the importance of maintaining a conducive situation during the Pilkada period.
He also expressed his appreciation for the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operations Task Force which has played an active role in creating a sense of security in Papua.
“We as religious leaders in Papua, appreciate the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force which has succeeded in providing a sense of security and comfort to the community from security disturbances carried out by certain irresponsible groups,” said Rev. Yones Wenda.
Furthermore, Rev. Yones invited the Papuan people to remain alert to various issues that have the potential to divide unity, such as hoaxes or provocations that could harm the democratic process.
“Let’s work together to maintain security and social order ahead of the upcoming regional elections in Papua and not be easily provoked by hoax issues that will divide national unity and integrity,” he added.
Responding to this appeal, Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H., stated that his party would continue to ensure security during the regional elections in Papua.
According to Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno, Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force, will focus on nine areas that are vulnerable to disruption by the activities of Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) and Political Criminal Groups (KKP).
“Pilkada is a national agenda that must run well and safely. “The Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force will assist the Papua Regional Police in ensuring the success and smoothness of the democratic party,” said Police Commissioner. Bayu Suseno.
With tight security and the active role of the community, it is hoped that the regional elections in Papua can take place peacefully and safely.
