Jayapura – Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K said that the joint TNI-Polri apparatus guarantees security from armed criminal group (KKB) disturbances which often occur in Papua.
He expressed this when he met with the old Papua Regional Police, Jayapura City, Tuesday (20/02/2024).
“We will guarantee the security and safety of the Papuan people from disturbances carried out by the KKB,” said the Papua Police Chief.
The Papua Regional Police Chief said that the National Police held joint patrols to ensure security and order after the voting and to ensure the security of ballot boxes resulting from the 2024 General Election.
“This activity is to create safe and conducive conditions after the voting and during the 2024 Election counting recapitulation process,” said the Regional Police Chief.
“We will also guarantee the security of logistics and the democratic vote of the people until the calculation and recapitulation are complete at the KPU as well as the security of the logistics of withdrawing ballot boxes and ballot papers from TPS,” he added.
Furthermore, Inspector General Fakhiri appealed not to be easily provoked and not to easily believe hoax information that is not necessarily true so that it can disrupt the security and order situation.
“Regarding the results of the 2024 simultaneous elections, the public is expected to wait for the results of the official decision from the Papua Province General Election Commission,” he added.
