Searches Continue, Weapon Confiscation Case in Ilaga Still Being Pursued
Jayapura – The case of confiscation of firearms belonging to KP3 Air personnel at the Ilaga Market Complex, Puncak Regency, Thursday (01/02), is still a concern for the joint forces who continue to follow up on the case.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, in his statement stated that efforts to chase and search the perpetrators of the robbery were being intensively carried out to retrieve the confiscated items.
“The firearm that was confiscated was an SS1-V1 type and a magazine containing 20 5.56 mm caliber bullets,” he explained.
According to Police Commissioner. Benny, the name of the suspect in the robbery has been identified by the police.
“The group’s involvement in this incident has also been confirmed via social media accounts and confirmed by the Spokesperson for the TPNPB OPM National Command, Sabby Sambom, who stated that the group is ready to fight the authorities who are pursuing these weapons,” he said.
Therefore, the Head of Public Relations appealed to the entire community to remain careful and alert in their activities to avoid criminal acts that might be committed by this group.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police. Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K, as Head of the Papua Regional Police emphasized that the police will not relax their efforts to pursue the perpetrators of the weapons confiscation. They will continue to increase security and try to take back the weapons.
“We also hope that the group can cooperate with the police for a good resolution without undesirable things happening, such as the gunfire that occurred previously,” he said.
