Police Monitor Phase II of the Murder Case of Female Activist Michael Kurisi Doga at the Wamena District Prosecutor’s Office
Jayapura – The ODC-2024 Gakkum Task Force Investigation Subtask, led by Inspector Kamaruddin, S.H., escorted two suspects in the murder case of Papuan female activist, Michael Kurisi Doga, to the Wamena District Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday (1/02/2024).
The two suspects, Ditius Wenda alias Person Murib (26) and Rupinus Murib alias Rudi Komba (28), were taken to Sentani Jayapura Airport from the Papua Police Headquarters and then continued their journey to the Wamena District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to information from the Head of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H., the two suspects and their companions arrived at Wamena Airport from Sentani Jayapura Airport at 08.30 WIT using the Trigana Air PK-YSC IL271 aircraft.
“The Phase II process carried out against the two suspects is currently underway at the Wamena District Prosecutor’s Office,” said AKBP Dr. Bayu.
In his explanation, AKBP Dr. Bayu added that this murder case involved two suspects and was a violation of the primary article, Article 340 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary to Article 338 of the Criminal Code, and/or Article 351 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 55, Article 56.
“The perpetrator is suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder of Papuan female human rights activist, Mrs. Michelle Kurisi Doga, on August 28 2023 in Koloak Atas District, Lany Jaya Regency, mountainous Papua,” said the Head of the Task Force.
The legal process will continue according to the specified stages to ensure justice and accountability in this case.
Phase II is the focal point in uncovering the truth and upholding justice for this tragic murder.
“The police hope that this process can provide legal certainty for victims and the Papuan people, as well as being an example of fair law enforcement. “This case continues to be monitored and is of serious concern in efforts to achieve justice in society,” concluded the Head of the Public Relations Task Force.
