Jayapura – Papua Police Chief, Inspector General. Pol. Mathius D. Fakhiri, SIK, MH, revealed that his party had added troops from the Cartenz Peace Task Force and Papua Police Mobile Brigade to help restore the security situation in Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua.
The addition of troops was carried out to strengthen existing personnel in the area in order to restore security in the local area which experienced security disturbances due to the shooting carried out by the KKB since last Friday (19/1/24).
“Currently troops, both from the Cartenz Peace Task Force and the Papua Police Mobile Brigade are already in Sugapa, so it is hoped that in the next day or two the security situation in the area will return to being conducive,” explained the Papua Police Chief, Thursday (25/1/24).
The Two Star General revealed that based on the reports received, the shooting carried out by the KKB as of Wednesday (24/1/24) was still being heard.
As a result, community activities have not returned to normal, including the economy and security forces continue to be on alert to anticipate shootings carried out by the KKB.
“Restoring security in the area must be carried out quickly considering that in the next 25 days we will face a national agenda, namely the voting which will be held on February 14, so logistics shipments must be immediately distributed in Intan Jaya Regency,” concluded the Regional Police Chief.
