Mimika – Decisive action carried out by joint TNI-Polri forces managed to provide a firm response to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) attack that occurred in Intan Jaya Regency on Sunday, January 21, 2024, as many as 5 KKB members were reportedly killed in the firefight.
Kaops Damai Cartenz-2024, Kombes Pol Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, revealed that the latest information shows that previously it was reported that 3 KKB members were killed in a firefight, but after further investigation, it turned out that the death toll reached 4 people.
“The identities of the KKB who died are Oni Kobagau, Belau Network, Agustia, and Ones,” said Kaops.
In line with this, the Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, reported the latest incident, Tuesday (23/01/2024) at around 09.30 WIT, when the ODC-2024 Gakkum Task Force was about to land in Intan Jaya, the plane was shot at by the KKB until the plane landed and after the plane landed, we received assistance from the TNI Yon 330/TD Perimeter Post.
“It is suspected that the shots came from the direction of the Catholic church of St. Misael, Bilogai,” said Bayu.
In an effort to retaliate, said Bayu, security forces from the TNI Yonif 330/TD Perimeter Post responded by counterattacking the KKB action.
“The results of drone monitoring showed that one KKB member, named Melkias Maisani, was killed in the attack, both the body and the firearm used had been taken away by other KKB colleagues,” explained Kasatgas.
AKBP Bayu emphasized that this incident shows the hard efforts of security forces in responding to attacks from armed groups that continue to threaten security in the Intan Jaya region.
“The authorities continue to intensify efforts to deal with the security situation in the area, while continuing to monitor developments and provide maximum protection to the local community,” said Kastgas Humas Ops Damai Cartenz-2024.
“We also appeal to citizens to remain calm and not be provoked by misleading issues that may come from unclear sources.” He concluded.
