2 Maluku Residents Under Legal Process, Smuggling Firearms to KKB Papua

Papua- 2 (Two) people arrested by the National Police for trying to smuggle firearms to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua will soon be tried. The trial of this case will most likely be finished soon, because the files for the two suspects have been handed over by the Ambon Police to the Ambon District Prosecutor’s Office, Saturday (13/1).

The two suspects currently being prosecuted are Fredi Latuperissa alias Edi and Jerry Loupatty alias Jery. In this case, the case files for the two suspects have been declared complete or P21 by public prosecutor Donald Rettob.

So, if there are no obstacles, the case files will immediately be transferred to court for trial.

Yos Sudarso Ambon Port Area Police Chief Julkisno Kaisupy said the case investigation report files had been declared complete.

“We have submitted the case files with the two suspects to the Ambon District Prosecutor’s Office. “The handover of files and evidence in the firearms smuggling case was carried out on Thursday 11 January 2024,” he said.

He added that the case file was divided into two parts. The reason is, each suspect has a separate file created.

So, the second stage of submission of case files was carried out on Thursday 11 January 2024. The case files were split into two, where one suspect and one case file were prepared separately, explained Police Chief Julkisno Kaisupy.

Regarding evidence, he stated Rp. 300,000 in 3 Rp. 100,000 pieces, and one black Nokia cell phone without a telephone card.

Apart from that, he said, there were three black long-barreled homemade weapons, each equipped with two ready-to-use folding steel rifle butts without magazines.

Next is a long-barreled firearm, the stock is made of wood and is ready to use. After the suspect and case files are submitted, they will then be handed over to the court for trial.
