Kaops Damai Cartenz-2024: Complete File, Investigators Hand Over 1 KKB Member to Wamena Prosecutor’s Office
Jayapura – The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nduga District Police handed over ED, known as Altau, a suspect in several criminal activities and an associate of Egianus Kogoya, the leader of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Nduga region, to the Wamena Prosecutor’s Office in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province.
Altau was handed over along with evidence, including 1 black rubber necklace, 1 black-brown beaded necklace with a pig fang pendant, 1 Vivo Y22 brand mobile phone in blue, and 1 Nokia 105 brand mobile phone in blue.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nduga District Police, Iptu Jaya Bida Kedeng, explained in his statement on Monday (8/1/2024) that this second phase of handover took place after the case file was deemed complete by the prosecutor.
“We have gone through the second phase. Before handing over to the prosecutor, we examined the suspect’s health,” he said.
He added that Altau, an associate of Egianus Kogoya, is suspected of violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code, Subsidiary Article 338, and/or Article 365, Jo Article 55, Article 56, and/or Article 170 of the Criminal Code. The suspect will be detained by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at Class II B Wamena Prison, Jayawijaya Regency, awaiting the implementation of the trial mechanism by the JPU.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Operations of Damai Cartenz, Commissioner Pol Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., mentioned that Altau was arrested by the Peace Task Force Cartenz in the RSUD Nabire area, Central Papua Province, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
“Altau is a member of the KKB Ndugama involved in ammunition supply,” said Commissioner Faizal.
Apart from his role in ammunition supply, Altau is also mentioned to be involved in a series of attacks alongside Egianus Kogoya. This information was also revealed by the Head of Public Relations Task Force Ops Damai Cartenz, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H.
“Among them, on March 17, 2019, there was an attack on TNI members in Kindibam,” said AKBP Suseno.
Furthermore, on July 16, 2022, there was an attack on civilians in Nogolaid Village and Yosoma Kenyam Village, resulting in 11 fatalities and 2 injuries. On July 19, 2022, there was a shootout with security forces in Nogolaid Village, Kenyam District.
“On January 6, 2023, there was involvement in a shooting at the Pos Kotis Brimob by the Peace Task Force Cartenz in Koteka. On July 25, 2022, there was involvement in blocking civilians and seizing mobile phones on the Kenyam – Batas Batu Main Road, Kerepkuri District,” he added.
Finally, the Head of Task Force stated that on August 4, 2022, Altau was involved in burning heavy equipment owned by PT Tunas Jaya Irian, resulting in 4 damaged units.
