Jayapura- One of the operational commanders of Kodap 35 Bintang Timur who was also a trusted confidant of Lamek Taplo, one of the most respected Papuan KKB leaders TPNPB-OPM, with the initials OM was killed in an ambush carried out by a joint TNI and Polri team in Mondusit Village, Serambakon District, Bintang Mountains Regency.
Apart from killing the KKB Papua field commander, in the ambush the joint TNI and Polri team also managed to kill 4 other KKB members, namely NM (26), OK (27), AL (19), and TA (22).
Head of the Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force, Police Commissioner Faizal Ramadhani, said that the five Papuan KKB members who died in the incident had been identified by security forces.
“Yes, that’s right, one of the people who died was OM,” said Faizal Ramadhani in his statement, Tuesday 3 October 2023, as quoted by Tribun Papua.
OM is known to have served as the operational commander of Kodap 35 Bintang Timur who was directly responsible to the Commander of the TPNPB-OPM (West Papua National Liberation Army), Free Papua Organization) Kodap 35 Bintang Timur, Ananias Atimimin.
Head of the Cartenz Peace Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Bayu Suseno, added that the five KKB bodies had been evacuated to the Pegubin District Hospital and would be buried.
“Everything was evacuated this morning, from the crime scene to the regional hospital, then we carried out a series of further identification measures. We plan to hand it over to the local government for burial,” explained Bayu.
Previously, five Papuan KKB members were successfully paralyzed by the Cartenz Peace Task Force.
