Jayapura – Three civilians were shot dead at the Yosoma Complex, Jalan Batas Batu, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains on Wednesday (16/8/2023). This brutal shooting was allegedly carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
The three civilians who died in this shooting consisted of two indigenous Papuans and one migrant.
Apart from that, two cars were also reported to have caught fire in the action allegedly carried out by the KKB.
This case was first reported at 22.06 WIT when joint TNI-Polri personnel were on patrol. The Joint Team immediately responded to reports of shootings at the Yosoma Complex.
Gunfire lasted for a few moments between joint personnel and KKB members.
The Head of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Pol Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo explained that previously there were three civilians departing from Batas Batu to Kenyam City since the afternoon. But until evening it had not arrived at the destination.
Joint TNI-Polri personnel immediately responded to the report and carried out a sweep.
“When the joint personnel arrived at the TKP, they found three civilian victims who had died. The identities of the three victims are Steven Didiway, Michael Rumaropen and Samsul Ahmad. The police managed to evacuate the bodies of the victims to the Kenyam Health Center for further examination,” said Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo.
Until now, investigations are still ongoing to uncover the background and motives behind this brutal attack and shooting.
