Jayapura – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD emphasized that he would rescue Susi Air Capt Philips Marks Mehrtens pilot who was taken hostage by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua.
He said that his party has the principle to continue rescuing hostages who are still in Indonesian territory.
“Threats to be killed are frequent, but our principle is to save the hostage’s life,” said Mahfud in Jakarta, Monday (29/5/2023).
He also said that his party was still observing developments in the field related to the threat against Mehrtens by the KKB who would be shot two months from now.
As is known, the Susi Air Pilot who was taken hostage by the armed criminal group (KKB), Capt Philips Marks Mehrtens said that he would be shot if Indonesia did not recognize Papuan independence.
In the video circulating, it can be seen that Mehrtens said he was given two months time for other countries to talk to Indonesia about Papuan independence.
“If it’s been two months they don’t talk to Papua, they (KKB) will shoot me,” Mehrtens said in the video circulating.
