The KKB Attacks Members of the Security Forces When Securing the Loudest Prayers in Puncak Jaya

Jayapura – The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) shot at joint TNI/Polri officers while securing the Teraweh Prayer at the Al Amaliah Ilu Mosque, Ilu District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua Mountains Province, Saturday (25/03) at around 20.00 WIT.

Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

The Head of Public Relations said that the incident started when a joint TNI-Polri officer who was carrying out security suddenly received shots from the front of one of the kiosks at that location.

“The shooting was carried out by 2 KKB members using 1 (one) short-barreled weapon and one (1) long-barreled weapon,” said the Head of Public Relations.

Kombes Benny explained that as a result of the shooting, 3 (three) TNI-Polri personnel became victims, namely members of the 1714-02/Iluan Koramil. Serda Riswar received gunshot wounds to the spine and lower chin (died) and was a member of the Iluan Police. Bripda Mesak Indey received a gunshot wound to the abdomen (died) and an. Brigadier General M. Arif Hidayat, who was shot in the thigh, is conscious.

“Currently the three victims are at Makoramil 1714-02 for a while and are trying to contact the victims’ families,” explained Kombes Benny.

According to him, the current situation in Puncak Jaya Regency is on alert one, the Police Chief and all members are alert and anticipate further attacks on members in the field.

“The Puncak Jaya Police are currently on alert one and are pursuing the perpetrators of the shooting,” he concluded.
