Jayapura – The Puncak Resort Police are currently investigating the shooting of a motorcycle taxi driver named Irwan by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Puncak area, which occurred at the Kimak T-junction, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Wednesday (22/3) at around 09.20 wit.
This was revealed by the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, when met at the Papua Police Public Relations Bid Media Center, Wednesday (22/03).
The Head of Public Relations said that the incident started when the witness saw the victim accompanying the perpetrator to the Kimak T-junction (asphalt road boundary), then the victim waited for the perpetrator to pay the fee.
“Suddenly the perpetrator immediately took out a black FN type firearm and shot the victim from behind the victim once,” said the Head of Public Relations.
Furthermore, the Head of Public Relations said the witness who saw the incident immediately fled to the house of the head of the Puncak Regency Social Service to protect himself.
“The shooting was carried out by two people, one perpetrator who shot the victim and the other who helped the first perpetrator to shoot the victim,” said the Head of Public Relations.
Kombes Benny also said that the victim was taken by members of the TNI-Polri task force to the Ilaga Health Center for treatment, but after being treated at the Ilaga Health Center the victim was declared dead.
“The body will be sent tomorrow to his hometown in Jennae, Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi Province for burial,” he said.
At the end, Kombes Benny said that currently the Puncak Police are intensifying patrols around Ilaga City, and are still investigating the shooting case.
