Timika – Polri and TNI continue to work on the process of rescuing Susi Air pilot from New Zealand, Capt. Phillip Marc Mehrtenz.
In accordance with the central government, efforts to search and rescue the Susi Air pilot put forward persuasive steps regarding the hostage.
Head of Public Relations of Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force Police Senior Superintendent Donny Charles Go, S.I.K told the media regarding the rescue of Susi Air Pilot who was held hostage by the KKB, that the National Police is prioritizing a soft approach.
“As the Head of the Papua Regional Police previously said, the Police prioritized a soft approach. Our focus at this time -while still searching- the most is saving the pilot’s life,” he said.
He hoped the cooperation of all elements in society, in this case the Regional Government and community leaders, could play a major role in solving this case.
He added, “We hope that the local government and community leaders can play an active role in establishing communication with the KKB Leader Egianus Kogoya. Polri has initial steps, namely preemptive and preventive, but if there are no more progress in it then law enforcement will be the last resort.”
“As a form of responsibility, we continue the searching. Currently, we are still taking the first step in the form of a soft approach,” he concluded.
