Nduga – The armed criminal group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya continues to spread terror in the Land of Papua. At least 33 civilians have died and 11 TNI-Polri soldiers have died for their crimes.
In records, during 2018-2023 Egianus Kogoya et al killed 33 civilians, 4 TNI soldiers, and 3 members of the National Police. Meanwhile, the terror attack on pioneer aircraft had been carried out 4 times, including 3 times shooting at TNI helicopters.

Most recently, Egianus Kogoya intimidated 15 workers for the construction of the Paro Health Center and burned 1 plane belonging to the Susi Air airline whose pilot’s condition is currently unknown.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo said that since 2018-2023 Egianus Kogoya and his men have often committed crimes, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains. This group is considered as the most existing and active criminal group in spreading terror.
“From our data, he (Egianus Kogoya) is a KKB who really exists and actively endangers the safety of the community,” said Benny when confirmed, Thursday (9/2/2023).
Benny emphasized that the police would continue to pursue and arrest Egianus Kogoya and his accomplices. Because, apart from terrorizing residents, this group also disrupts the running of government and development, especially in Nduga.
“Egianus Kogoya immediately surrender. Sooner or later we will definitely catch him. Let’s support the government so that the people in Nduga can enjoy development,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Head of Peaceful Operations Carstensz Kombes Faizal Ramadhani revealed that efforts to pursue and arrest KKB are still being carried out by the Papua Regional Police through the Carstensz Damai Task Force. 2023 is declared as the year of law enforcement despite the subtle ways that are still being carried out.
“The perpetrators of crimes against civilians are also wanted by the TNI because they are considered to have undermined state sovereignty. Of all the groups spread across several districts, it is said that the group that is quite solid is the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya,” he said.
He assessed that the Egianus Kogoya group, apart from being known to be cruel, turned out to have seized heavy weapons. In fact, they are considered to be a fairly strong KKB.
“Of all the existing groups, the Nduga group led by Egianus is still relatively strong,” said Faizal who is also the Director of General Crimes at the Papua Regional Police.
